AIM:To investigate clinical effect of temporal small incision extracapsular cataract extraction (ECCE) and intraocular lens implantation with topical and subcon-junctival anesthesia. ·METHODS:Totally 32 patients 40 eyes with cataract after trabeculectomy underwent the small incision ECCE and intraocular lens implantation surgery by topical anesthesia and subconjunctival anesthesia (20g/L lidocaine),the anesthetic and therapeutic effect of surgery were evaluated. ·RESULTS:All patients had the desired analgesic effect and successful surgery procedure,postoperative visual acuity <0.1 in 5 eyes (12.5%) ,,visual acuity from 0.1 to 0.4 in 9 eyes (22.5%),visual acuity ≥ 0.5 in 26 eyes (65.0%); All the visual acuity were improved. ·CONCLUSION:The temporal small incision ECCE and intraocular lens implantation surgery by topical anesthesia combined with subconjunctival anesthesia is a simple and effective surgery for the patients with cataract after trabeculectomy surgery,especially in primary hospitals with cheap surgical equipment.
