Abstract:Exosomes are extracellular vesicles of sizes ranging from 50-150nm in diameter. Exosomes can deliver bioactive molecules(e.g. proteins, lipids, DNA, microRNA, etc.)into target cells which play an important role in cell-cell communication. Researches demonstrated that exosomes mediated cell-cell communication can impact cell apoptosis, invasion, migration, immune response and oxidative repair ability of recipient cells. Recently, researches on exosomes developed rapidly in the field of ophthalmology. This review summarized the latest research progress of exosomes in ophthalmic diseases.
