Abstract:·AIM:To evaluate the clinical effects of the modified anterior chamber penetration on treating the acute angle-closure glaucoma with continuous high intraocular pressure(IOP).·METHODS:The modified anterior chamber penetration was performed on 33 patients 33 eyes with the sudden attack of angle-closure glaucoma after topical anaesthetic.·RESULTS:All patients with the modified anterior chamber penetration rapidly reduced IOP,eye pain, eased headache, improved eyesight in various degrees, after treatment IOP was an average of 15 mmHg.No complications occurred.·CONCLUSION:The modified anterior chamber pene-tration is an effective, safe and simple method of treating the acute angle-closure glaucoma with continuous high IOP.It can avoid side effects caused by long-term IOP-decreasing drug and can quickly reduce IOP to alleviate the suffering of patients, reduce the damage to visual function caused by the high IOP.·
