·AIM:To observe the therapeutic effects of limbal epithelial stem cell autograft transplantation in the treatment of primary pterygium.METHODS:The transplantation of autologous limbal epithelial stem cell was performed in 107 eyes of 94 primary pterygium patients aged from 46 to 72 years old,who hospitalized in our hospital during April 2007 to December 2008.The postoperative follow-up was 6 to 24 months.RESULTS:During the follow-up period,3 eyes recurred(2.8%)without serious complications.CONCLUSION:Limbal epithelial stem cell autograft transplantation is effective in the treatment of primary pterygium·
