    Abstract:

    AIM:To study the effects of behavioral interventions for early prevention of trachoma and to collect important parameters and basis for extension to early prevention and treatment of other chronic non-communicable diseases, and to explore a new economic and convenient path to protect people’s health.METHODS: Totally 400 trachoma patients from the district authorities and institutions for physical examination in Longgang Central Hospital during June to September 2008 were grouped into: intervention group and control group. One year follow-up observations were taken to compare the cure rate and effective rate of trachoma.RESULTS:In intervention group, the cure rate was 98.5%, the effective rate was 100%.In control group, the cure rate was 77.5%, the effective rate was 89.5%.CONCLUSION: Drug treatment combined with behavioral interventions can significantly reduce the recurrence rate of trachoma, improve the cure rate and can be widely used.
