    Abstract:

    AIM:To analyze the clinical characteristics,diagnosis and treatment of endogenous endophthalmitis. METHODS:Participants were 8 cases (9 eyes)with endogenous endophthalmifis in Beijing Renhe Hospital from 2005 to 2011.All patients completed routine ophthalmic examination.Aqueous humor and vitreous body were smeared and cultured,blood culture.All cases received local and systemic antibiotic drug therapy,and were treated by intravitreal injection or/and vitrectomy. RESULTS:There were 6 males(7 eyes) and 2 females(2 eyes),aged from 45 to 78 years.1 case had bilateral endophthalmitis.None of them had the history of ocular trauma or intraocular surgery.The main clinical manifestations included different degree of anterior uveitis,vitreous inflammations.5 of them were pathogen culture positive.2 eyes were treated by intravitreal injection,7 eyes received vitrectomy.Visual acuity was improved in 6 eyes. CONCLUSION:Synthetic diagnosis and treatment of endogenous endophthalmitis is very important.Vitrectomy and antibiotic therapy can control infection effectively.
