To study the management of rigid gas permeable contact lens (RGP) in controlling the difficult refractive errors in teenagers. METHODS:Fifty-one cases (90 eyes) ranging from 10 to 20 years old with difficult refractive errors were fitted with RGP. The corrected visual acuity and complications were observed. RESULTS:The difference of corrected visual acuity between RGP (0.95±0.17) and spectacles (0.39±0.11) was significant (P<0.05). No serious complications occurred in all cases. CONCLUSION:RGP could effectively improve the visual acuity of teenagers with difficult refractive errors and promote functional development of vision.
