    Abstract:

    To evaluate the incidence of dry eye in the high risk group 4 years after laser in situ keratomileusis(LASIK) among the students of Military Medical University, and provide methods to support the prevention and treatments of dry eye for military academy students. METHODS:A questionnaire survey was conducted among 165 interns, the 2007 corps of the Department of Oral Medicine in Xian Tangdu Hospital, the Fourth Military Medical University. The questionnaire included Basic Vision and the Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI)(including eye sensitivity to light, foreign body sensation, sore, close reading, the use of computers as well as the environment and so on).The OSDI score ≥30 points were defined as high risk of dry eye. RESULTS:Participants in the survey was 24.2% at high risk of dry eye. High risk of dry eye in those 4 years after LASIK was 51.7%, significantly higher than 22.4% in those who wore frame glasses and 11.8% in those who had normal vision. CONCLUSION: LASIK is a risk factor for dry eye. So the phenomenon for the military academy students with higher laser surgery rate and higher risk of dry eye should be particularly concerned.
