    Abstract:

    AIM:To analyze the clinical effect of biological amnion membrane transplantation with mitomycin C in treatment of pterygium.

    METHODS: The clinical efficacy of 201 cases(242 eyes), which were performed biological amnion membrane transplantation combined with mitomycin C in the treatment of pterygium in Nongsanshi Hospital from September 2008 to September 2011 were retrospectively investigated.

    RESULTS: The postoperative follow-up period was 6 to 24 months. 197 cases(238 eyes)were cured(98.3%), 4 cases(4 eyes)recurred(1.7%).

    CONCLUSION: Biological amnion membrane transplantation withmitomycin C in treatment of pterygium is simple, practical, safe, and efficient and can reduce the recurrence rate significantly. It is a valuable therapeutic method for the treatment of pterygium.
