Abstract:·AIM:To carry on the physical examination for staff who were 40 years old and above in the University of Science and Technology Beijing in order to understand staff’s eye state.·METHODS:By reviewing the physical examination report of the staff in 2007,2101 teachers and staff aged 40 years old and above were selected from 2890 people in our university and divided into four groups ranging from 40-49,50-59,60-69,70 years old and above to discover the main ophthalmopathy which affected vision and to analyze age section distribution.·RESULTS:Five kinds of ophthalmopathies with high prevalence rate from high to low were ocular fundus arteriosclerosis(4.6%),vitreous opacity(1.8%),senile cataract(1.6%),optic disc(C/D)anomaly(0.7%),age-related macular degeneration(0.4%).The others’ posi-tive rate increased obviously along with age except C/D anomaly.·CONCLUSION:Senile cataract,glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration are the main ophthalmo-pathies which affect the vision.·
