AIM:To investigate the clinical effects of penetrating keratoplasty in the treatment of stromal corneal dystrophy. METHODS: Fifteen cases 17 eyes with stromal corneal dystrophy were enrolled in this study and followed up for 6-36 months, with on average of 18 months. RESULTS: Visual acuity was increased significantly after keratoplasty. Corrected vision >0.1 was in 16 eyes(94%).Correct vision >0.3 was is 9 eyes(52%).Rejection occurred in 2 eyes and no corneal lesion recurred in all patients.CONCLUSION: Penetrating keratoplasty is an effective method in treatment of stromal corneal dystrophy.
