AIM:To study the clinical effects of lamellar corneal cauterization in treating bullous keratopathy(BK). METHODS:Totally 20 cases with BK were analyzed, including 15 cases after cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation,5 cases after vitreous resection,the average age was 72.5 years.Visual acuity with 0.02-0.04 were in 9 cases,counting fingers in 5 cases,light perception in 3 cases and hand motions in 3 cases.All patients were treated by lamellar corneal cauterization. RESULTS:Eye symptoms disappeared in all cases and visual acuity was not obviously different before and after operation. CONCLUSION:Treating BK by lamellar corneal cauterization can effectively alleviate the symptom and prevent recurrence.
