AIM:To investigate the surgery methods to reduce post-traumatic retinal detachment through scleral external pressure while suturing scleral penetrating injury. METHODS: Totally 28 cases of Ⅲ region scleral penetrating injury underwent scleral laceration suture as well as external pressure at the laceration region (allogeneic sclera).RESULTS: In the 28 cases, 11 cases were without retinal detachment (follow-up 3-6 months), 17 cases were of proliferative vitreoretinopathy, and underwent vitreous surgery the second time.CONCLUSION: This surgical treatment of Ⅲ region scleral penetrating injury may help some patients avoid retinal detachment, and has clinical value.
